Sandra Johnson -- Spammer And Scammer Alert

Hello everyone,

This is a follow-up to my post on November 30th regarding spam.

If you did not read that please read it now by clicking here:

I was contacted today by a member of the UFO News Club who said that Sandra contacted them and told them "she" (this Sandra could very well be some guy for all we know)...

She described herself as a 23 year old African woman, living in a refugee camp in Senegal and related a harrowing story which included the
murders of her parents and other family members by the current
government of her home nation. She went on and on to describe how harsh
life in the refugee camp was but that I could help her.

She went on to tell me that her Father, before he died left her 9.3 million American dollars in a European bank account and if only I would
assist her in accessing it she will be able to secure a visa and reward
me amply.

This sounds very much like the Nigerian scams that get blasted out to email accounts.

If you have accepted a Friend Request from this person I would recommend that you Remove and Block this person.

Personally, I never accept a Friend Request from anyone I do not know. If the person is active on the site and or has corresponded with me previously (i chat or via a message) and is talking about the material on the site and then sends a friend request only then do I consider accepting that request.

This kind of scam happens all over the Internet so I have learned to be very cautious.

Please note you can set your profile to Private to prevent people from being able to view your details. This should also prevent them from being able to send messages to you.

I just wanted to give everyone a "heads up" about this.

Keep in mind this blog here we are commenting on was actually published 4 months ago in early December 2010 when we had this Sandra Johnson spammer come to our site. They have hit sites all over the Internet and is almost certainly a software that is doing it.

If they can blast out a million different spam comments / messages asking for people to contact them and then spend the time to actually only talk with the people who contact them (probably no more than 1 out of 1,000 or so) and them maybe 1 out of 1,000 of those actually send money... well that is what keeps these people doing this stuff. Especially if they live in a country where even $100 is a lot of money. Imagine them getting several thousand dollars from someone.

As much as I detest it I also find it somewhat interesting how there are several countries where most of these spammers seem to be located. Really makes me think the good people who live there must have a struggle just in day to day life. I mean who knows maybe even the local shop owners try to rip you off. But the Internet definitely brings amplifies a person's behavior I think. A good person I think will become better. A bad person I think becomes worse. All because of the anonymity of the Internet.

   Hi UNC;

This will happen again & very few sites can protect against it as we extend invitations to guests & new members. The simple solution is this. Internet saftey rules! If you see something suspicious do not respond to it, but report it to one of the UNC staff. It is like any other venue on the internet, caution is the rule of the day. Just be warry of this & perhaps one should reconsider when accepting or responding to requests outside of UNC. ...Jim

Apparently, it actually works or these people would not keep doing it. But it does seem to me like they would be much further ahead putting all of that time and effort into something useful... like watching the skies. =)

I would automatically view this as a Nigerian scam. These guys stay up late at night, I think, trying new ways to cause trouble.
